Come and Take It Radio 12/19/2010

Good afternoon. Tonight we start the show discussing an event from last fall that has finally made it to the mainstream media of a TSA slip up, fortunately it has nothing to do with the naked body scanners but with them letting a loaded gun slip past one of their screeners. An Iranian-American businessman Farid Seif passed through security at a Houston airport with his snug nose Glock pistol - http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/loaded-gun-slips-past-tsa-screeners/story?id=12412458

We move on to discuss an editorial from our Governor, Rick Perry, 'Storm Clouds Gathering Along US-Mexico Border' - http://governor.state.tx.us/news/editorial/15440/

We then touch on a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety where the DPS is urging holiday travelers to avoid Mexico. According to DPS Director Steven C. McCraw, “Mexican drug cartel-related violence continues in the northern Mexican border cities, and other locations such as Monterrey and Acapulco. Drug-related or other criminal activity has been documented in popular tourist destinations such as Cancun and Mazatlan. The safety and security of holiday travelers cannot be guaranteed if they venture into Mexico”.

The rising tide of violence in Mexico is well-documented from a variety of sources. Kidnappings, violence between cartels and battles between cartels and law enforcement authorities have escalated in recent years.

The U.S. State Department website lists travel information related to violence in Mexico. Among the items noted on the website:

• Kidnapping, including the kidnapping of non-Mexicans, continues at alarming rates.
• Criminal assaults have occurred on highways throughout Mexico; travelers should exercise caution at all times; avoid traveling at night.
• Rape and sexual assault continue to be serious problems in Cancun and other resort areas.
• Mexican authorities have failed to prosecute numerous crimes committed against U. S. citizens, including murders and kidnappings.

“We recognize people safely travel and vacation in Mexico on a daily basis, but the increase in violence is also a reality,” said McCraw. “There are no guarantees that drug-related violence will spare innocent bystanders and that criminals will refrain from attacking tourists.”

We spend the second hour discussing an analysis by Alan Lawson on BrasscheckTV, WikiLeaks Brought to you by the CIA Part II http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/991.html.

See ya next year!!

Come and Take It Radio 12/5/2010

Come and Take It Radio 11/07/2010

Good evening, tonight we are back after taking last week off due to Halloween. Trick-or-treater's came knocking and Brian was howling so we saved you from having to listen to it!

We intended on playing a video of local Austinite Heather Fazio from TAG (Texans for Accountable Government) schooling the Austin Public Safety Commission - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M_zigQsepE

We had also planned to discuss the huge nationwide victories of GOA (Gunowners of America) backed candidates.

From GOA -

Candidates backed by Gun Owners of America scored tremendous wins in Tuesday's elections.

In many cases, GOA was the ONLY national pro-gun organization to actively oppose Nancy Pelosi's "Blue Dog" Democrats. Our aggressive opposition to these Representatives -- who are mistakenly considered to be somewhat conservative -- was well worth the effort as Pelosi has now been reduced to minority status.

You can go to the GOA website -- at http://gunowners.org/goa-victories.htm -- to see the dozens of new GOA-backed Senators and Representatives that will be serving you.

Some of the highlights include:

* California, Dist. 19 -- Jeff Denham

* Florida, Senate -- Marco Rubio

* Florida, Dist. 22 -- Allen West

* Minnesota, Dist. 8 -- Chip Cravaack

* Missouri, Dist. 4 -- Vicky Hartzler

* Ohio, Dist. 6 -- Bill Johnson

* Virginia, Dist. 9 -- Morgan Griffith

* Washington, Dist. 2 -- John Koster
